An artist I know, Trine Bumiller (she lives in Colorado), is part of an artist collective known as the Artnauts. The group uses the arts to address global issues, including social change, and does themed exhibitions all over the world, for which the artists typically create small site-specific works. To date, the collective has had nearly 300 exhibitions in 26 countries on 5 continents that have involved more than 350 artists. https://www.artnauts.org/
I think people are exhausted... With the ongoing wars, humans and human rights under threat and the inadequacies of the political system. I don't think it's 'sympathy fatigue' for the climate as such, but it's a quiet contender in comparison to the daily hits of grief and outrage that call for our attention now.
Hi Lucy SO good to hear from you! Hope all's ok with you? I think you might be right... there's so much calling on our attention. It's no longer THE existential threat. There are so many others. Household finances is definitely a thing though. Less people are happy paying extra for flights, energy bills etc
I had an exhibition late last year with works addressing climate issues. Comments then and also comment from a curator was that people are exhausted with the issue
Although I have always been a 'tree hugger', and painting my love of the landscapes I was so frustrated and angry with the past decades of complacency in regard to climate change and the anti-climate change propaganda, I made a series of work based on the terrible fires we had here in Australia. I am now broaden this, the direction I am not sure yet. I am not a narrative painter but I am working on an idea of displacement and refugees of climate change

Amazing! Thanks for sharing the link Maureen. It looks like a really interesting international project.
My pleasure.
Hi Victoria
Thanks for the mention.

This is so interesting to hear, Charlene. It feels like the zeitgeist has shifted, for now. Is all your work focused on climate issues?

Your work sounds really interesting. Do you have a website I can look at?
