How to Write a Cracking Artist Statement
A 2-hour practical workshop for artists 20 Feb 6-8pm GMT £50 / $62 BOOK NOW!

It’s one of the essential pieces of written comms you can’t do without. You’ve got about 300 words to sum up who you are and what your work is about. It needs to be clear and concise to keep the reader engaged. I’ll help you keep things nice and tight.
Places are limited to 6 people only.
In this writing workshop you will receive intensive support to help you write a cracking artist statement.
You’ll learn:
How to structure an artist statement and what you need to include
About appropriate writing style and tone
How to recognise and sift out the ‘art speak’
How to structure and vary sentences to keep the reader engaged
This is a friendly, hands-on workshop during which you will begin to construct your own artist statement. During the workshop you will briefly introduce your work and the themes / ideas you explore to the group as a brainstorming exercise.
You’ll receive personal practical advice in real-time as we go through the session. There’s no writer’s block here — I’ll help you get past the bumps.
I request that all participants send me their websites / existing artist statements (if you have one) in advance of the session so I can get familiar with your work.
The next Writing Workshop is on Mon 20 Feb 2023 6-8pm GMT on Zoom. Get your ticket here.

Do you find writing about your art practice hard? Does the thought of it make you want to pop your head in the sand? You’re in the right place if you’re an artist and you struggle with writing.
As a writer and art school lecturer I’ve been guiding artists on how to put ideas into coherent words for over 15 years. Don’t lose your audience with waffle or confusing art speak. I can help you tease out connections and think through the ideas you’re exploring in your work.
I have helped many artists over the years to write their personal statements and bios.
In this newsletter I’ll post my top tips on writing, and I’ll send you updates by email on my forthcoming workshops.
